I said to a few people who came to me asking for flash help there was a website going up that would be useful to them but it was in private beta, so I would link them when it was open... well it's open!



Flash Game Dojo is a site pretty focussed on programming flash games with flashpunk and flixel, and the site is put together by the creators of these engines, and is contributed to them by anyone (there are already 90 articles on the wiki) if you are looking to get started in flash programming, you could do so much worse

IndieDB is pretty much ModDB for indie games, keep track of developers and the games they make. and the cool thing is the site is really just a filter for indie stuff on ModDB, so if you have an account on ModDB, its the same account on IndieDB.
anyhoo, I always loved ModDB, but as someone who was not a modder and not sure of whether my projects were acceptable I never signed up, but now there is an indie specific front end I'm making full use of the site and liking it a lot; here's my page and here's the page for Sarah's Run

also I got an unexpected invite to a fresh group #Gender-Benders which "is for the support of transsexuals, transgendered, cross-dressers, inter-sexed, bi-gendered, androgynous, and anyone else between the lines of the social construct of gender."

I know a few of my watchers fit that (actually about 1/4 of my notes are from other transfolk/questioning/curious people) so even though it seems empty right now this group might be another place to go to (though you are always free to talk to me of course )

I'm officially a 'contributor' I'll be uploading more art from my games so I can actually 'contribute' plus I've been flexing my 3D lately as well as my drawing, once I get my current (and typically secret) project done I'll be submitting models as I make them for games, plus I'll be doing some just for fun and practice anyway and I'll release them as resources.

also, for anyone who was looking forward to reading my novel (yes, the imaginary folks) I'm sorry I havent posted it, when listing all the illustrations I wanted to make, I counted over a hundred, that will take a long, long time to draw between other, significantly more important projects. so for now if you really really want to read it (who are you talking to sophie, no one wants to read it ) then its online in per-chapter blog form at [link]

if you don't know what google wave is, its pretty much made to replace email. but really a hybrid of instant messaging, forums, email and wikis. it's especially good for collabing on documants

To those of you aware of the rules of the internet; yes, this is a journal about gender-bending!

as most of you prolly know, I'm pretty gender-bent myself and a huge amount of the manga and comics I read are gender-bending related.

but recently one manga (and it's anime too) have been too totally awesome not to talk about! its an action/school romance type affair called 'Kampfer' and heres how I rank my fave's in the genre:

3rd place: Cheeky Angel (tenshi no konomaiki)
character art is horrific, its all really chessy, but still fun

2nd place: Ranma 1/2
still really cool even though its oooolllld (crap the manga is as old as me! ) but it is pretty much the original. problem though is it was the same few storylines repeated over and over it seemed

1st Place: Kampfer
really awesome art, really awesome concept, really awesome characters and would have won even if it didnt have cool talking plushies with their guts hanging out.

OH MY GOD! (I hear you yell if you are into this kind of thing) HOW COULD YOU PUT RANMA 2ND!
well, kampfer is that awesome.

anyhoo, now I've got my 'freaky fangirl' stuff clear I just thought I should mention in my journal someplace I've been working on a NaNoWriMo entry this year (to write a 50,000 word novel during november) and I'm currently a little over double my target wordcount for this part of the month, which is pretty cool

as for the story, the basic deal is there are these 26 'super' warriors and when there is only one left standing they will be given the power to reshape the universe as they see fit.

it's going pretty well and I'm really happy with how the story itself is coming, if you want to follow my progress you can check out new chapters and illustrations on my crappy art blog

if you are still reading this and are not downloading unity RIGHT NOW, you are a total asshole and you don't realise how big news this is, imagine if adobe flash could do better-than-xbox/PS2 3D graphics and then adobe said "hey you can have it free, cause we like you"

its like that but better!

here's some other news; adobe doesent like you, flash isnt going to be free, the best free alternative to unity is gamemaker... (ever tried gamemaker? then you know why unity kicks ass)

yes I'm a little miffed I bought unity so long ago I cant get a refund, but I'm glad my contribution helped take Unity technologies to get to the point where this awesome tool is free. so that is consolation enough ^_^
